The consumer version of the much talked about VR gear, the Rift by Oculus is already up for pre-order but the community has been on a slight outcry due to its pricing which came different from the previous estimate given out by Oculus founder, Luckey Palmer. In a massive Reddit AMA, Palmer apologizes and explains that his earlier statement was ill-prepared as he was frustrated with outlets misinterpreting another previous estimate of the Rift's pricing, which included the cost of the recommended PC build, of $1500. Luckey explains that he gave out the previous estimate of $350 out of frustration from outlets continuously spreading the info about the Rift reaching $1500 in price, causing further confusion when the final pricing for the Rift was revealed to be at $599. All's well though, as the explanation was well received, and pre-orders are continuing to roll out from future Rift-owners.
